April 6th

Dufferin Marsh Frog Watch

Now in its sixth year of operation, the Dufferin Marsh Frog Watch will be getting underway with training in early April.

Monitoring begins in mid April when the frogs first start to sing and lasts until the end of May (depending on the weather). This is great way for high school kids to accumulate community hours. It is also a great way to bond with younger children by accompanying them on the monitoring which is scheduled for early evening twice a week.

If you're interested in coming out, we'll be holding a training and information session at the Grackle Coffee Company (on Main St Schomberg) on Tuesday April 6th, at 7:30 pm.

April 8th

Environmental Movie Series - Turning Down the Heat

Once again, the Dufferin Marsh Committee, Arts Society King, Cold Creek Forest and Wildlife Area and the King Township Public Library are working together and sponsoring a series of films and panel discussions related to the environment.

Turning Down the Heat profiles innovative and successful projects of the new energy revolution, showcasing alternative sources of power.

They include solar energy in Holland, Japan and California, biogas in Denmark and Vietnam, wind energy in Holland and India, and hydrogen fuel cells and ground source heat in Vancouver.

We see the effects of global warming already manifesting themselves in the small island nations of the world.

But, as Donald Aitken, Ross Gelbspan, Amory Lovins and others make clear, we do have viable options.

All we need is the political will.

Join us at the King Library on Thursday April 8th, at 7:00 pm

Admittance is free and refreshments will be served.

April 10th

Schomberg United Church Dinner

The members of the Schomberg United Church invite you to dinner on Saturday April 10th.
