In previous vears, the Schomberg Agricultural Society has sponsored a Farmers' Market on the same weekend as the Schomberg Village Street Gallery. The most common request from visitors was that the market be expand from a one day to a season-long operation. Those wishes have been granted! Starting on Saturday June 2nd, and running every second Saturday until September 29th, the Schomberg Agricultural Society will be sponsoring a local Farmers' Market. The market will take place at the Schomberg Agricultural Fairgrounds from 9:00am to 2:00pm - rain or shine. With 12 confirmed vendors and more expected from the Holland Marsh-Canada's Salad Bowl - we're looking to help strengthen the roots and connections between the local farming community and the customers, says Henry Verbruggen, Schomberg Agricultural Society director. Features this year include a "sample tent" a BBQ day, a fresh salad day and entertainment. Come join us at our new Market. The Fairgrounds are located behind the Community Hall (at 325 Main St) and south of the old Arena on Western Ave. For more details, contact Andy MacPherson at 905-939-8181 or via email at andrewmacpherson@sympatico.ca Welcome to Schomberg
Schomberg is a small village located at the north end of King Township. Nestled on the north shoulder of the Oak Ridges Moraine, the Village and its surrounding area is a wonderful place to live, work and play. In addition to the friendly community atmosphere, the village plays host to a number of activities throughout the year. In the early winter, the Dufferin Marsh Committe sponsors a Community Skate and Bonfire on the Dufferin Marsh. The Schomberg Agricultural Society hosts the annual Schomberg Agricultural Fair in May and the Community Bonfire in the Fall. This year marks the third anniversary of the Schomberg Village Street Gallery and the Fall in Love with Schomberg events, including Farmers' Market, pumpkin carving for the kids and the annual Scarecrow competition. The Schomberg Village Street Gallery turns Main St into an art gallery and sale in September and activities for the year wrap up in the first week of December with the "A Main St Christmas" celebration - an evocation of a country Victorian Christmas, with parades, carolers, food and fun. Throughout the year, shops (both along Main St, and in the surrounding area) offer both special treasures and day to day items - underlining the fact that this is a real living community - not an artificial marketing opportunity. We'd love for you to drop by and see! Do you have ideas to make Schomberg better? If you do, please contact us. The Schomberg Village Association is a volunteer organisation dedicated to improving life in Schomberg and the surrounding area. We are not affilliated with the Township of King, and are not a government organisation. If you are interested in a job or other information regarding King Township, please visit their website.
