Facilitated Taxonomy Session

The facilitated taxonomy modeling session is a three-day session typically conducted onsite.

You will learn:

You will learn about types of organizational schemes, including taxonomies, ontologies and controlled vocabularies. You will learn about the terminology and the benefits and challenges of taxonomies. In addition, you will learn about metadata and how information is tagged for reuse and end user retrieval.

The session draws on our taxonomy audit of your material, (or if a full audit was not performed, our initial examination of the material you provide to us) to address the issues of how your content creators tag content. During the session, we review your current taxonomies, then develop a taxonomy tagging scheme as well as recommended processes to help content creators follow the tagging scheme.

Objectives

At the end of the session, you will have the beginnings of a taxonomy specification that includes:

  • Controlled vocabulary
  • Reuse classification hierarchy
  • Content flows and relationships
  • Metadata tagging strategy

Benefits of facilitated sessions

Facilitated sessions are completely customized to your needs with your content and with your issues and challenges in mind. You get experts to lead you through the process in the context of your requirements. And you don't just get training in techniques, you get real tangible results like specifications that form the basis of your solution. We help you to avoid the pitfalls and you get results in days that would normally have taken you months on your own. And you can train your whole team at a very reasonable cost.
